Liza Minnelli & Pet Shop Boys 'Losing My Mind' (Wogan)

being a miserable twat, i loved 'please' and all the dour overcoats business, then almost immediately went off them once they started having any kind of fun.

i do really really like this, and the dusty one, though. camp as buggery.

Good good, NoraSmile

Watched this Berlin gig they did last year, the other night. The screens in the background are for the virtual backing singers they used on some songs.Though not on this one, i don't think.

Tis a great clip indeed, Nora. And i like the song. I recall seeing it at the time, late 89 ish I think Smile

Also, rare to see Neil playing keyboards. Only other time I've seen him do that was a great clip on Whistle Test from 1985 when they did Later Tonight which can be found on YouTube

I just ordered this album on Amazon JP. 'Musica Ex Machina' (1:43 in the video) reminds me of 'Imitation of life' by Electronic. And there's a reason for that; in a Karl Bartos interview with Quietus, I found this.
Quote:
A lot of the music on Off The Record was part of a collaborative process. 'Musica Ex Machina' evolved from work with Electronic, for example.

KB: I had to ask them [Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumner]. I had to call them and say I wanted to use my early demo tracks: "I want to get on with my tracks but to start from the point before I gave them to you." And they said, "Yes of course Karl, we don't want to be mentioned." But I wanted them to be part of this record. Once you share a copyright, it is like with kids, you don't have to divide it. It's together forever and it is good like it is. The beat was 'Bombast', which I did while the big beat movement was happening but I did it without really hearing any songs from this genre. Everybody did it at the same time.

Liking the lyrics on the chorus to this one,but not overly excited about rest of song :ohwell:

"I left my love in San Francisco
(That's okay, I was bored anyway)
I left my love in the room
(That's okay, I was born in L.A.)

I left my love in San Francisco
(That's okay, I was bored anyway)
I left my love in a field
(That's okay, I was born in L.A.)"

Love this. Almost as good as the Dusty collaborations.

I like this. Too bad it's been used by loads of advertisers, and i think even other films since then (or certainly trailers). I say, keep it for people with good taste in movies and everyone else can take a hike.

Yes, Debaser.Think it has been used in loads of adverts and shit. Was reminded of it when i watched the movie Badlands(1972(3?)) starring Charlie Sheen and Sissy Spaczek last weekend. The theme for that is the original ( forget the composer's name) and the theme in True Romance is a cover of the tune, though i hadn't previously know thatSmile

Well i too have learned something knew. The only musical knowledge I had about Badlands is that it supposedly inspired the Springsteen song of the same name.
