The best as already mentioned is lonesome tonight, cries and whispers, hurt and mesh. Honourable mention though to instrumental of thieves like us b side to murder.

In A Lonely Place
Hurt
Don't Do It

I've never been keen on 1963 to be honest.

Lonesome Tonight was so plaintive.
But Hurt live was violent and angry, then theres 1963 which they've never quite nailed live for me.

Hurt it is then....by a mile.

For the title alone .

At the time, I thought the hard industial parts were hella kewl.

Seconded! The purists hated it, I really like the wonky bits at the end. Not everyone's taste, but works for me.
'Player...' is a bit cheesy innit? It was originally slated for the album as 'Field' but I think they did right to relegate it to B-side.

Slightly off-topic maybe but I enjoyed Electronic's B-sides too. Lucky Bag (Miami edit), Free Will (played live!), Second To None... The shitey Raise The Pressure lost some strong tracks to B-side status, like Imitation Of Life and All That I Need, which kick the butt off the album in my opinion. Never got the praise for I Feel All Right though, poor track...?
Some Monaco trax were sadly missed as B-sides too, esp the aborted I've Got A Feeling single.
Even more off-topic but there's a pic of Melanie C in pyjamas and it's for charity so you (I) can knock one off over it and not have to feel guilty afterwards. Guilt IS a useless emotion.

I'm surprised you didn't direct us to THIS website. It's only guilt free if you made a financial donation to 'Dream Walk' though...

I've never understood the taboo around masturbation. There are so many terriblle things in life - war, famine, Justin Bieber - you need a wank just to cheer yourself up.
Back on topic - a vote for In A Lonely Place (Little Boy) even though you could consider it JD.

For Bsides not used elsewhere, and excluding remixes, I'd say "Behind Closed Doors" and "Don't Do It".

I like In A Lonely Place too. Shellcock and 1963 aren't bad either.

The best? Confused Instrumental.

The obvious The Beach runs it close.

Hello everybody, long time no see, i was on the old forum many years ago.
I just rediscovered New Order, hearing them a lot these days ( no pun intended ;-) and I registered again.

My favourites b-sides : Lonesome Tonight, 1963 ('til 1995 before they gave it a refresh as a single) and Behind Closed Doors.

But i just learn right here right now there's a New Order mix for Vicious Circle ? I just know the Mr. Haas version. I don't find this NO mix on the web, please can someone give me a link to access it or send me it as a file ?

Thanks !

Regards,
Christine

The NO mix of Vicious Circle was on the Ruined... cassette single only. Corporate pigs London cleverly spread the B-sides over all the formats so completists had to buy every one - the most useless being the second CD, a truckload of shitty mixes all sounding the same. Shite. I did like the K-Klass mix though.

Thank Michael. I'll check discogs.com to see what the London Rec people in charge did 20 years from now.
