Had a listen, it's so-so really, as has been said, nothing beats the original, butI always like to hear new interpretations of the track.
Always loved it live too, just for the chaotic madness of it all and the train crash endings, they were great when they were made up on the spot. |

That was on the PCL covers CD stuck to the front of Mojo magazine at the beginning of 2012. The CD as a whole was received reasonably positively by those of us on the forum at the time. Discogs actually has it listed here.

While I mostly enjoyed that PC&L "covered" CD that version of The Beach was shocking.
Took the piss a bit with it's half-arsedness and lack of imagination.

50 Pound Note wrote:JG wrote:Guess they've gone for a down tempo mix as that's about the only way it hasn't been done before. Nah, one of the '95 mixes was slow. I kinda liked it at the time, but that was 18 years ago. This one is dreadful. That's the Plutone remix (reggae sort of vibe) which I love. Hardfloor is my fave. This new mix is pretty uninspirational, but the saving grace is that at least you can listen to it for free. :) |

leather-girl wrote:I listened to it and I thought it was horrible.... . I'm usually very open minded about remixes and covers (regardless of genre; I listen to a lot of remixes and covers of many songs, both NO and other genres) but I have to admit I like the original version from 1983 the best. Regarding 'Blue Monday', no remix comes close to the original. Glad to see you've had a flowery midget in to put out that fire in your flat! :) :) |
