the gingerman is a great idea,i worked at houston's gingerman for 8 years. i don't remember the arena/venue , but hope it is reasonably comfortable inside. if it is too hot bernard will probably be at hippy hollow ,communing with nature, before the sound check. |

Hmmm. Kind of quiet re: Austin. Anybody know any thing about the venue? Yelp reviews horrific. Me and the Mrs. First for me since Shoreline Amphitheater, CA...1993 and first time ever for her. Likely eating at Moonshine beforehand. Cheers!

This being Austin the W demographic is across the board. I wouldn't worry about not dressing "fancy" enough. I have been to the living room lounge a handful of times and honestly it has never felt too stuffy. Just my experience. The drink prices are another story.
Gingerman is a great bar. No mixed drinks, that I am aware of. Something to keep in mind.
The Austin Music Hall is terrible. The fact that New Order is playing and their setlist is the only saving grace. The facility does have nice bathrooms. The rest is shit. The sound, long lines for drinks etc...The previous owner put money into expanding it, for the sole purpose of making money, not making a better venue. The new owner was supposed to be making improvements but the last time I went it was worse than before.
I am so excited to see New Order, I don't care about the venue. Consider yourself warned though.

Will be there. Saw them in Dallas back in October. Awesome. They hadn't been to Texas since '93 before then. Set list doesn't seem to have changed since Oct except adding "I'll Stay With You" and "World." Barney closed w/ LWTUA in sunglasses and cowboy hat.

I'll be there! My second NO show, I saw them in NYC in 2005. Much happier they'll be playing closer to home.
I know the band is infinitely more functional with Gillian back in the fold, but I will miss Hooky.
Can't figure out where we will be, but I'll be the only Black guy with locs and a black NO shirt, I expect...

Hope everyone has a great time! Curious to see if any changes are made for the US audience (I've always felt Love Vigilantes went over great in the states, as it gets loads on play on SiriusXM). Personally, would love to see Thieves Like Us get played, but I'm doubtful on that one. I have not heard World, 1963, I'll Stay With You or Round & Round live so I'd take any of those as well at some point on this short US/Canadian jaunt. Can't wait for next weekend - Philly then Columbia!!! Edited by user 19 July 2013 12:38:53(UTC)

of course...not knowing your name, I'll probably just sit there picking my nose Won't that be everybody? My name is Rich. It's stupid hot outside, so I might go with a green JD shirt over the black NO shirt. Actually, no, I will go with the black shirt. Either the '05 or the Technique one. I don't know anything about the venue and I have GA tickets. How does that work? Am I gonna have to bash a bunch of hipsters to get a good view?

I hate getting there when the doors open only to hear some tool play KISS FM for an hour, then some toolish opening act, and the band on at 9 pm. Gingy sounds good but I think I'm going to get a fish taco or two at Po Boys before!

The show was aces, everyone. Brilliant. Definitely in the top five shows I've attended. I think it was better than '05 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC - and that was a great show!
Too worn out to write a review but here's the AMAZING setlist...
Elegia Crystal Regret Ceremony Age of Consent Isolation Love Vigilante Here to Stay Your Silent Face World Bizarre Love Triangle 586 True Faith The Perfect Kiss Blue Monday Temptation
Encore Atmosphere Shadowplay Transmission LWTUA
Pretty sure Ian and Rob were looking down with approval. Great crowd and the band is on top form!

Something put Barmey in a bad mood about half way through the set. Looked like he was in pain, maybe injured his knee again. Disappointing since he seemed to be having a good time at the start. No Barney dancing during BLT and no between song banter from Here to Stay on. Same set as Dallas (w/ Regret and World added which made it one of their longest shows) but w/ a less enthusiastic Barney. Still a great show. Phil and Tom were amazing - very tight.
