Not sure how many nights I'll be staying in Miami yet, but I've booked for the Friday night show: not sure how/whythe standard standing tickets are $80 each (plus booking fee) but the mezzanine tickets are a couple of hundred dollars more for what doesn't look like a great improvement (unless you've overdone it in the sun in the afternoon and need to sit down for a couple of hours)

Wow its finally sorta almost time for these shows! Right now I have Friday and Saturday tix. Thinking Tues/Fri will be the same show and Wed/Sat the same shows. Just a guess since they said they won't be the exact same shows, but I don't really see them doing 4 different sets. Guess we'll see!

Finally got round to booking my flights this afternoon (mainly because the prices have rocketed since I last looked at the price of tickets) - I'm really looking forward to it but I'm not going to be shocked if its pretty much the same set they played when I saw them in Paris last month.

I'm kind of hoping that, as this is a bit of a special occasion, they decide to mix the set up a little and introduce some songs not heard for a while.
Not that I'll be going (out of my price range, sadly). Hope everyone who is able to go enjoys it though.

My money is on - same core set as always with 2 songs different each night. Roll up roll up for the Crystal/Restless/Ceremony lottery!

I’m kind of suspecting that Everything’s Gone Green is gonna end up in the set at some point.
That and Thieves Like Us.
They will be there at some point (i.e. when Barney realises how bloody great the two tracks are). Might as well be at Miami. Fingers crossed for you guys.

Just to elaborate, I can kind of see why they aren’t trying out EGG. It’s a complicated track, which isn’t ‘immediate’ to most people’s ears. A marginal track.
But, my God, Thieves Like Us is surely magnificent to everyone on the planet? Any band would be wetting themselves to write a song anywhere near as good as that.

Really looking forward to this, I have tickets for the Tuesday. My wife thinks I'm mad though for travelling to see a band in Miami whose singer lives half a mile from me. Edited by user 24 November 2019 01:20:23(UTC)

2019 Barney can't sing 1984 Thieves Like Us. His voice has dropped. They'd have to tune it down, like they did with Perfect Kiss.
I'd love for Everything's Gone Green to make a return, but when they last attempted it in 2005 Barney slagged the lyrics off.

But, my God, Thieves Like Us is surely magnificent to everyone on the planet? Any band would be wetting themselves to write a song anywhere near as good as that. I'm sure I've read an interview somewhere where Barney says he like TLU but it's quite boring for the band to play live? Which I suppose makes sense in a way because apart from the bass and a few synth pads it's mainly sequenced parts, but still a shame. He's said something similar about Run, they really like it but have tried and failed loads of times to get it to work live. As for EGG yeah I agree. I would love to hear it but it's definitely a more 'difficult' track that isn't necessarily a crowd pleaser. Also Barney's comment before they played it at a gig back in '05 (I can't remember where, Paris?), i.e. 'this song has really miserable fucking lyrics' doesn't seem to suggest it's one of his favourites... Going for 2 nights since I'm about 15 miles from Miami. Very excited.
Have they ever done a residency before? Maybe Australia?
I don't expect drastic changes to the setlist. They'll probably alternate with Ceremony/Regret/Age of Consent/World like they've done at most shows.
I really hope they don't play Crystal. It drags on for soooooo long.

Anyone heard anything about support acts? The Australian and European support acts were announced well in advance, but theres nothing on either the New Order or Fillmore websites other than Arthur Baker being there.

Its been announced that they're performing ∑(No,5k,20Mia) on the 14th: I don't fly out until the 15th and I'm seeing them on the 17th so don't know if this means its going to be a totally different set each night?

New Order announce ∑(No,5k,20Mia) a special performance as part of their residency at the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. For the first time the band will deliver an upfront performance, without synth orchestra and art installation, of the unique collection of songs and arrangements that made their acclaimed Manchester International Festival appearance such a huge success. This fascinating musical selection will be a highlight for any New Order fan! The special performance date will be Tuesday, January 14th. Additional residency performances are scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday January 15th, 17th and 18th. All performances start at 8PM. Tickets are on sale NOW!
Facebook and their website say 5k, but the poster says 5m. I'm betting that the poster is correct. ∑(No,5m,20Mia) = New Order, 5 members, 20(20) Miami. While there are probably 5 keyboards on stage, there's also drums, guitars, a bass, and a melodica. ;)

The picture/poster that was put up on Instagram only says the 14th: if it was going to be the same show for all four nights I would have thought it would say 14th-18th January (unless each show is going to get its own individual poster)

It specifies that the special setlist is one night only.

With regards to the 'announcement' I am asking because I have seen NO enough times over the years to be very sceptical about them playing different sets each night over a stretch of shows, that is all.

I hope they mix it up! They could rotate any one of the So It Goes songs into the other nights, since they've learned to play them as a 5-piece and not a 17-piece, plus they added Fine Time and World to the recent European tour. It'd be fantastic if they dusted off another little surprise. I've always been partial to the live version of Face Up. Maybe something as yet unplayed from Music Complete, like Unlearn This Hatred?

Looking at this Fillmore, I'm thinking its just going to be Arthur Baker DJing, which might not be a bad thing, when I saw them in New York in 2012, the band playing before NO were dreadful (I can't remember their name and they don't deserve Googling to find out).

Yep Arthur Baker. I enjoyed him last time, but its Arthur Baker so of course I would. Its funny because one article I saw said DJ Baker is opening. They obviously have no idea who he is. Edited by user 27 December 2019 07:57:45(UTC)

I'm getting ready (pun intended) to book a night or 2 in Miami Beach. Coming from home in PA to my place in Daytona then on to MIA within a few days, I'm unsure where I want to stay. For Winter Music Conference I stayed more in Mid-Beach at the FountainBleau / Eden Roc areas. For this, I want to keep it more in walking distance to the Fillmore, since my wife will be dog-sitting and hanging outside during the show. Art Deco is a plus. Any specific ideas? Anywhere to stay or not to stay? Right now The Shelborne is looking good, especially considering the available price verses the $800+ standard rate. I've attended my share of NO Shows, nothing spectacular though. 1986 in college, 1989 Technique, 1993 Republic, 2010-2012 at Roseland, 2016 Music Complete a few nights apart in NYC (RCMH) and Philly. Any ideas? Can my wife wait backstage with the dogs, they love NO! Well, the dogs do. Edited by user 29 December 2019 13:55:48(UTC)
