More Monaco please! The were as good as New Order. But perhaps not as good as New New Order.
= :87)
And New New Order are a 5 piece band for sure… the new album is pushed from good to great by the stuff Phil and Tom have done for it. They've given us gems.
Now, all the Monaco peeps are working together… all the damn time… so get some new music sorted and stay of the internet 'till you're ready to knock us out with tunes!

Monaco's "What Do You Want From Me? (1997) is the best song ever written by a member of New Order since "Regret". Far better than "Crystal" (great tune, but the sound is not really New Ordery). And their second album (2000) as a whole is way better than Get Ready, WFTSC and Twisted Tenderness. It's sad that instead of writing new top tunes, the guy is preoccupied with so much anger. I understand his point of view, but he would come in much better light if he would record new music while working diligently behind the scenes on legal matters (whatever the process and outcome, it should not prevent him from being a great musician and a person). Hooky's argument that making new music is pointless because of digital piracy is hardly valid. There would be then literally no music made these days. A lot of young bands record at home or small studios and make good tracks. Besides, was Monaco financially really that successful when everything was still more or less old-fashioned way? They barely got any promotion or any media coverage, especially towards their end. I understand Hooky got accustomed to royal reception at expensive studios that New Order and their labels could afford, but it's not what guarantees a good record. Spending half a million on WFTSC was nonsense. Edited by user 18 October 2015 15:20:38(UTC)

To me, Music For Pleasure was good, the second Monaco album, not so much. The guy is his own worst enemy.

Years ago Brotherhood was described as a son of Low-Life and I think that applies to a lot of stuff - Republic to Technique, RTP to 'Lec, this - though I like 'It's A Boy' for sentimental reasons. I listen to it with my wife when drunk. Edited by user 19 October 2015 07:14:34(UTC)

I feel that "Music for Pleasure" has the better Hooky vocal tracks, but then "Monaco" has the better David Potts vocal tracks. The self-titled album would have been much better if they had mixed in the two leftover b-side tracks (Heaven 7 & Barfly) which Hooky sings on.
