The standalone CD is also in a jewel case.

According to Discogs the CDs have identical audio content but different matrices on the inner rings. Lost Sirens LP+CDLost Sirens CDThe CD that comes with the LP is a cardboard sleeve with a "section" of the LP sized artwork on the front and back. I've got the jewel case CD but sent the LP+CD up to my collection elsewhere and I'll probably keep it sealed. No point in unwrapping it really as no turntable.

Finally the UK import of 'Lost Sirens' (the CD only version) was delivered to my house via HMV JP.

I got it from Amazon UK, there is always a risk of there being a crack in the jewel case when you get a cd by post, it's fine though, I will just swop the case with another one.. Got the Vinyl/CD version last week via Amazon. Have to say it's alright. The opening track is great, Sugarcane's very pop but like it. Recoil's utter shite, down there with Rock the Shack/Working OT/We all Stand etc. The rest are pretty much what I was expecting. I think they should have released a strong(ish) 8 or 9 track Sirens Call back in 2005 with the rest as B-Sides. Been listening to the CD most of the time and when I got a chance to play the vinyl gave the needle a Subbuteo style flick when it got to Recoil in the hope it would carve a path for future plays, nearly got to the end of the track as it happens ! All in all, nice to hear the tracks. Hope there's another one on the way, still live in hope that they'll come up with a classic.

6/10 is a terrible rating indeed. "The disco silliness of ‘Sugarcane’ is cheesy as hell, but when the spirit is with them, they’ve made dafter songs sound like seeing the face of god". World in Motion? I wonder what Hooky and Steve really think about Sumner's recent poetry. I've never heard them say a word on the subject. Didn't Steve at least once throw his drumsticks up in the air and say, 'Really, Bernard, really???'

Recoil and I've Got A Feeling have both really grown on me. The first sounded so slight on the first few listens, but isn't. It's a slow burner. The second reminds me of a Monaco track, but not "that" Monaco track.

I presume we've all tried making this a whole album, using the tracks off of Control, yes?
Hypnosis I'll Stay With You Sugarcane Shake It Up Hellbent Exit I've Got A Feeling I Told You So (Crazy World mix) Get Out Recoil Californian Grass
Hypnosis makes the lyrics to I'll Stay With You almost painful to listen, but in a good way, makes the song feel as if it's about letting a friend (Curtis) down when things have got difficult. The other Control tracks flow into the songs I've paired them with, and stop the more subtle Lost tracks being swamped by the, er, brashness of the Lost songs immediately before them on the CD.

Review I've just posted is one of the most balanced and informed I've seen. Possibly agree with this more than any of the others posted here.
Simon Price, the Independent Reviewer has been forced to take a 25% pay cut this year - and it shows. That was a half arsed effort which leads me to think he's played LS just a couple of times before dumping his first thoughts down.
That NME review isn't too bad. Any album that is released on the basis of being not fully finished is going to struggle slightly with ratings. And I doubt the NME readership these days includes many who do anything other than torrent.

Quite like Republic, and the rap on Electronic, too. Whether by accident or design, Barney has written some sublime lyrics in his time. I wonder how much feedback he gets from the others in the studio. Sometimes the quality control could be a lot tighter! Was listening to Twisted Tenderness this week. Some really brave lyrics, again accident or design? I don't think there's another Barney song like Flicker...http://www.elyrics.net/read/e/electronic-lyrics/flicker-lyrics.html

I guess I was unlucky...I pre ordered the vinyl/CD combo from Amazon.com a couple of weeks ago...it still hasn't shipped and it says they are "temporarily out of stock"...ugh...

Thank you Linus! I'll keep CDNow in mind, but actually the price I got from Amazon is a little cheaper...(about .23 cent...no big deal), it was higher on Amazon until a day or two ago, though...Plus CDNow says it will ship in 7-10 days, so at this point I guess I'll wait and see what happens with Amazon...
I guess it's selling a little better than most of these stores thought it would...
