Tonights events in Paris are really nasty and tragic. My condolences to our French NOOLers.

One of the stories at the moment is that 35 Eagles of Death Metal fans have been killed at Le Bataclan with another 100(?) taken hostage. Just horrendous.

I wonder how this will affect security at upcoming gigs in Paris and elsewhere. Say, New Order on Monday at Brixton...

Spent the last few hours watching it all unfold on the news networks... absolutely dreadful news and I do hope any Parisian readers who visit these forums are safe.

I've only been to Le Bataclan once to see New Order play a little over four years ago; it was a great night, the venue was packed (sold out), really hot and had this unmistakable atmosphere. I've got a nice photo of the headline banner somewhere (the only usable shot of the night).

I can't imagine what those people went through. Paris is a fantastic city and will recover... I spent a bit of time there on and off between 2010-11 and have definitely got a 2016 trip in mind.

Very tragic and terrifying.
New Order were in Paris just last week, with their gig only 4km away from the Le Bataclan concert where the attacks have occurred.

Horrifying beyond words. Can't begin to imagine what those people went through.Heart goes out to the victims and families. This is a dark dark day for not only Paris and France but the whole world.

The European Football Championship is coming up in France in summer 2016 with the final itself held in Paris.Have to have grave concerns that something similar may occur yet again.

My heart goes to all those poor innocents who were victims of this horror.

I was supposed to go near la Place de la République yesterday evening : I'm glad I couldn't make it because I don't know how I would have been able to come back home with everything that was going on. It looks like it was an absolute chaos.

First thing this morning I tried to have some news from everyone that I know living or working nearby from this areas (10th, 11th districts).

The state of emergency has been declared so a lot of things are cancelled right now and we're asked to stay indoor if we have nothing urgent to do (they're not sure all the terrorists are dead and they're looking for accomplices).

I'm thinking like you about New Order playing here just a week ago and most of all about le Bataclan and the very happy (and very hot) memory of the band in this venue a few years ago.

Tonight from 9 they are lighting up the spineker tower with the tricolour.

I go without looking at internet or watching TV for a day and woke up to this yesterday morning. I still can't believe this happened.

Thank you for your kind supports.

I attended so many gigs in this venue like Beastie Boys, Ministry, Sisters Of Mercy...and of course New Order in 2011.
I had a lot of fun during these gigs and I met nice people, sometimes from UK.

My brother had 2 friends that were inside on friday. Fortunately they managed to escape safe.
But sadly too much people wasn't lucky.

Next saturday I will attend another gig in Paris.

I'M NOT AFRAID!

The band dedicated the Brixton performance this week to the victims. (in particular the song Atmosphere)
The start of the set had a 2 minute string arrangement with the French flag shown on the backdrop screen.

It's heart-warming.

Thirteen days ago, nine days before these atrocities in Paris, a group of us travelled across the Channel to see New Order, as we had many times before. We met up with friends from France, Germany, Holland, Brazil and Colombia, all of whom were there to see New Order. We ate, drank and chatted in cafes and bars, then went to a concert venue to enjoy ourselves watching a band we loved. Thousands did the same a few days later to see a different band, only for it to end differently, at a venue New Order had played at their more recent visit. It's almost unthinkable to consider the casual relaxed enjoyment that we had that Wednesday, such a typical aspect of Parisian street nightlife culture, being destroyed with gunfire, terror and death. They will not win, they will never destroy Paris, they will never destroy live music, they will never destroy Western culture.
an old monkey...
