.for the life of me I cannot see why the Journalists compare ‘M.C.S’ to ‘Technique’? I just do not hear it? ‘Technique’ has warmth, a summery vibe, a passion and feel to it that ‘M.C.S’, even though well produced, glossy and sparkly, still lacks warmth and feels two-dimensional, too programmed…like it has something missing…a big something.

Lazy journalism? Definitely!

It gets better:

I was also accused by Andrew Greenhalgh in The Evening news as needing New Odour more than they needed me? I found that really annoying, but then I thought about it…… and in fact I think you’ll find that the statement is true for all of us, Barney and Steve and Gillian, and definitely for ‘the other two’ tossers, none of us have been bigger outside New Order than in.

So I worked it out …I will have been a musician for 40 years on Jun 4th 2016. 22 years with New Order and 18 years without, pretty close to 50/50 Andrew so on second thoughts…. FUCK YOU TOO! And I’ll tell you one thing mate… you need musicians much more than they need you.

No, you should be embarrassed that a man nearing 60 is getting on like this. Cunt.

When you read this sort of bilius shite and reflect a while, it really is quite remarkable that the remaining members of Neworder managed to work with this narcissistic moron for so long.

It is probably not a coincidence that I have listened to very little Neworder* other than MC since its release. Maybe I should give Republic another spin, without Regret.

*in the interests of accuracy, I have listened to very little music other than MC since Sept.

Wishful thinking. Barney was really big in the late 80ies/early 90ies with Electronic. A real popstar. The first album was everywhere. The Revenge-album only got the hilarious attention of being the first truly garbage thing coming out of this previous "can't do no wrong"-group. The Electronic LP sold at least some hundred thousand copies, the Revenge one maybe 10.000. Barney could have done a second Electronic-LP, but did "Republic" with New Order instead. He would not have to do that career-wise, but it helped Hooky do end his mess with Revenge. But the comparable figures were there from that point, the idea of evenness gone.

Typical: if you have no arguments, it is easier to discredit the journalists. But part of New Order's good reputation came from the recognition of the press and how critical acclaim and respect have attracted more audience to their music through the years. The relationship between bands/artists and the music press is a kind of mutualism, so Hooky is very wrong about it.

And I'm very disappointed with him. Yes, I still admire his talent as a bassist and how he mixed up simplicity and sense of melody in his basslines, developing an unique sound and a trademark. Yeah, I love a lot The Light gigs and I see no problem with him going ahead with it. But as individual, he have become a twat and a tosser.

There's something he cannot win on the Court: the papers and the fans recognizing Barney, Gillian, Steve and the "two tossers" as New Order and "Music Complete" as an awesome and fucking good New Order album. Sorry Hooky.

Well, this is a surprise. I thought he'd maintain his usual dignified silence or seek something nice to say. I didn't expect anything like this.
TBFH's comments are spot-on. As a 'Republic' interviewer commented, 'Electronic' garnered rave reviews while 'OTP' was largely seen as a bad joke... I remember it well. No one believed Paul Lester saying 'Lec was one of the greatest albums ever made (we all know it's 'Spice'), but the fact he could say it at all and not get his head kicked in tells you a lot about the vobe of the time. It's hard to imagine even 'please-shag-me-New-Order' Paul saying the same about Revenge innit?

I suppose we can't expect Hooky to like Music Complete. To be honest, I find his comments more funny than annoying. If they're not getting back together, Hook's criticisms provide another form of entertainment...
