the town map of Jefferson Mississippi as seen in William Faulkners' first encounters is strangely similar to that of the Music Complete album cover. If anyone has ever read this perfect book or a summary of it you'd know damn well how eerily well it pairs with the story of Joy Division or just Ian Curtis himself. A southern gothic novel about the disintegration of a family. The son Quentin Compson although very intelligent has become very withdrawn and lives in the past. He concludes that life is meaningless and decides to drown in a river. There is also Benjy a cognitively disabled 33 year old man that lives in a virtual present who is happy when his daily routine goes as planned but cries when it changes, and Jason ... the most ignorant of the Compson clan is always living in the future and is more concerned with money and being rooted in reality. He is the bread winner of the Compsons but a lowsy one at that. ... Does any of this seem familiar.? Was Ian Curtis Benjy Compson, standing upon the stage living in an eternal present completely satisfied in that moment that the future and past are no longer existant? Or Was Ian Quentin Compson? living in and dwelling upon past memories of innocence and regret or wrongful doing to him that lead to a metaphorical drowning. You don't get epilepsy from nothing Ian come on... Ian enjoyed a drink or two throughout his life I'm sure.or was he Jason for awhile just working hard trying to get the money and nothing else mattered. you decide. Oh yeah and Benjy gets castrated so he no longer loves in that way anymore. Just something to think about I guess.
