I suspect this thread initially got no responses because we all know that remixing Technique will make it no better than it is.
And then Monkhouse jumped in...

In this case Monkhouse said something sensible. Well it must be, because I was going to say Robert Smith too!

This was my initial thought 100%, and then I remembered Regret - the Fire Island and Sabres Slow 'n Low mixes - they were pretty good. Not an improvement on the original of course, but enjoyable in their own way. Same for the Planet Funk mix of WFTSC, although other remixes didn't fare so well.

Ugh those names
. No no no! 2Unlimited, Alice Deejay and Snap! were all big in the 90s (and aged under 40) but that doesn't mean their remixing 'talents' should have appeared on The Rest Of...or the Republic singles. Calvin Harris remixing/producing Rhianna? Fine. But that doesn't make him right for NO. And honestly, he's the
best name you've mentioned there!
If you want some more credible names under 40 how about Avalon Emerson, Jamie xx, Boys Noize, Skream, Kolsch, Moderat and Jon Hopkins (although Hopkins probably is pushing 40).
Anyway, I know ths is all academic, and hopefully the band don't sneak too many peeks at the forum these days. We don't want to put bad ideas in their heads.
Here's my effort. Feel free to rip it to pieces, Jim (and others).
Fine Time - Chemical Brothers (they already did a DJ edit for themselves circa 2014, give 'em the parts; make it official.)
All the Way - Robert Smith (yeah I copied Monkhouse)
Love Less - Lee Mavers (The La's)
Round & Round - Daniel Avery
Guilty Patner - Soulwax
Run - John Denver (they don't have to be alive do they?)
Mr Disco - Alex Metric (or someone who will turn down the "music box" keyboard tinkle and turn up Hook's bass)
Vanishing Point -Tocadisco (Yes his Regret remix was crap, but have you ever heard his Ibizan style "sundays at space" remix of PSB's Minimal? Brilliant)
Dream Attack - Ewan Pearson (maybe he could find a way of just extending it)
