Facebook seems to have its fare share of dodgy posts these days, and I think I may have clicked one.

It took me to the web address I've put under the spoiler: (visit at your own risk)

It doesn't seem to be trying to sell me anything, which makes me wonder if it is trying to give me something...(virus!)

It says:

Quote:
ANNOUNCEMENT: New Order Announces 2024-2025 World Tour and Exciting New Album.

In a thrilling announcement that has sent shockwaves through the music world, New Order has revealed plans for a highly anticipated **2024-2025 world tour**, alongside the release of a brand-new album. The legendary synth-pop band, known for their genre-defining sound, promises an unforgettable experience with both classic hits and fresh material that will showcase their continued evolution.

The new album, *Electric Pulse*, is set to feature innovative collaborations and a blend of electronic rhythms, post-punk influences, and new wave melodies. “This album is a reflection of where we are musically and personally—exciting, introspective, and more relevant than ever,” said Bernard Sumner, the band’s frontman.

The upcoming world tour will mark their first extensive global run since their 2018 anniversary celebrations, and promises to be a high-tech, visually stunning event. The band has hinted at immersive stage designs and live renditions of their most iconic songs, alongside new tracks that are sure to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

With tickets set to go on sale soon, New Order’s announcement has sparked a wave of excitement, reaffirming their place as one of the most influential and forward-thinking bands in the music industry.

Good effort I suppose.
2018 Anniversary celebrations??

The website calls itself AJBNEWS (no spaces). There's nothng on NO's website or socials. So i guess this is a load of bollox.
Maybe I've saved you a click if you see this popping up on your feeds.

There is tons of this clickbait stuff doing the rounds at the moment. Always to generic looking news websites

Usually it is football teams and fake transfer announcements

Music acts it's usually fake death announcements.

OK last question. So your last record, Music Complete, turns 10 next year…

Oh, Jesus. We’d best do a box set. No, it doesn’t seem that long That’s gone quick, hasn’t it? Don’t really know what to say. I mean, that was kind of … It was difficult to write, but overall, it was an enjoyable thing to do and it turned out great, and I think it turned out so great, there’s kind of a fear of trying to do something else, in case it’s like you’ve set the bar a bit too high for yourself, and you’ve got to kind of just completely forget about that.

That was going to be my question. Has New Order been working on anything new?

We did a bit ago. I mean, the thing is, you would’ve thought with the COVID thing, with all that time on your hands, it would’ve been a good time to get creative, but I just found the opposite happened. Just because there was so much time, you just didn’t get anything done. We started doing a few things, but it kind of … It’s just sort of fizzled out, really, which is a shame, but sooner or later something will happen, I think. Tax bill, that’s usually a great source of inspiration,

Ah you beat me to it.
Not sure why they didn't put the statement directly on their twitter and FB as well as the website but ok...

Incidentally the splendid Brroklyn Veegan interview with Stephen that Linus references above really is one of the best New Order interviews I've ever read.
When talking about making Shellshock for Pretty In Pink, Stephen says:

Quote:
For some reason, personally, I think it’s easier doing stuff for a film, because with “Shellshock,” they sent us a sequence of the film to look at, and when you’re looking at something, you’re kind of like, you’ve got an idea and you’re trying to express what that idea is. When you’ve got nothing, it’s a bit of a pain trying to come up with it, so it seems to be easier coming up with stuff when you’ve got a picture to look at. Half the work’s done for you.

Well if they're struggling to come up with new music, this is the answer! Pick a movie (The Godfather? Gladiator 2?), pick a scene and write a song for it.
Do that a bunch a times, and hey presto! New album!
