Or would there be learned friends involved arguing in court? I really fancy what the current line up has done to the song.

I concur absolutely great reworking of this track, but who the hell would buy a studio version of this to justify the cost, when it's live that makes it so special. Moving on, I think they could do a great rework of Too Late as a live track, by giving it some real bounce, especially as Barney has that itch and wants to get back into an electro mode. |

I would, I think it's a great track and the new version takes the best bits from the Peel session and the PCL versions. Hooky always used to say that he thought the PCL version should have been harder and ironically I think that's what they've now done. captain solo wrote:Moving on, I think they could do a great rework of Too Late as a live track, by giving it some real bounce, especially as Barney has that itch and wants to get back into an electro mode. Agreed, always loved this one too. Out of interest, is anyone aware of any other recordings of Too Late (live? demo? anything?) or was it something that they only did for the Peel session? From memory, they recorded the session themselves rather than doing it at Maida Vale with BBC producers and under the time constraints normally afforded to Peel sessions so I guess it could be a fairly advanced demo as it is.

So what would 586 be promoting? The Troxy album? Nah. If you like the track, buy the Live album (what is exactly what I did).

Release a 30 year old song as a new single? I don't think so.

Id be more than happy to fork out some shekels for an album of reworked classics if they're on a par with what they did with 586. The True Faith old and new mash-up thing works really well too. Actually, forget it. Hooky would never allow it and all we'd be left with would be a "Will It Ever Be Released?" thread. Edited by user 22 November 2012 00:15:59(UTC)

People slag off Hooky for flogging 'nostalgia'. Then want a 30-year-old album track released as a single?

Agreed, it would just be flogging nostalgia and re-releasing songs is very rarely a good idea. Besides there's loads of boots and an official release with the new 586 on it; the Festival No 6 version is near-perfect. If they did re-record any old stuff Hooky would spend his next 8 interviews pointing out the hypocrisy. As would some of us... Edited by user 22 November 2012 03:59:48(UTC)

My personal feeling is NO didnt rate Too Late, as it didnt make PC&L (although it seemed to be the basis of the 586 intro).

It's always amused me Al that most of the regular posters here don't seem to like much of anything that NO have done since Technique so I don't find it surprising at all. In fact, hang it, let's have a godawful remix of 5-8-6 instead.

We've had God knows how many rererereleases, and I kinda like the fact some rehashes only get played live, it's part of the fun of a concert. Remember how the 'Lec mashed up Get the Message and Feel Every Beat into remixes at the gigs, or NO opening Ruined In A Day with the Ambient take at Reading 93?

If it was a project and a whole album of reworks, then that would be interesting. Not much point going out by itself. |
